To resolve different solution behaviours of these variables, the meshes can be independently adapted. The resulting linear systems are usually much smaller, when compared to the usage of a single mesh, and the overall computational runtime can be more than halved in such cases. Our multi-mesh method works for Lagrange finite elements of arbitrary degree and is independent of the spatial dimension. The approach is well defined, and ca","authors_text":"Axel Voigt, Thomas Witkowski","cross_cats":["cs.NA"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.NA","submitted_at":"2010-05-26T13:29:13Z","title":"A multi-mesh finite element method for Lagrange elements of arbitrary degree"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"1005.4808","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:4367cec35dadec5bb335fd4a7ba2308534515876a09dc0f3c51e366a45c515b4","target":"record","created_at":"2026-06-03T23:06:37Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"419c49ffc14f2f8495109cccd0854375b1212a29e1044cdb5aba10ff403ba417","cross_cats_sorted":["cs.NA"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.NA","submitted_at":"2010-05-26T13:29:13Z","title_canon_sha256":"b7cefe29e3245b80b8b660686a7c07389efea0c6e6358d4a5137240a761b9d49"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"1005.4808","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"2eefd06b20e743cffc1fa1994b079aa45fbb04a5a4624713a00c973119ba2a25","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"2eefd06b20e743cffc1fa1994b079aa45fbb04a5a4624713a00c973119ba2a25","first_computed_at":"2026-06-03T23:06:37.640484Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-06-03T23:06:37.640484Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"NCGJO1fmPueQyBaLRm4CLW6iGqjdEAbX2Cy603mhJrMn4MpmFik3apzzkPb+RUdaATM/h5qbdsy67zgJClP0Cg==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-06-03T23:06:37.640954Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"1005.4808","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:4367cec35dadec5bb335fd4a7ba2308534515876a09dc0f3c51e366a45c515b4","sha256:70a9bb1f0fb9298c4b656635ede860023d1ae042492650351e2b237a2514d7f4"],"state_sha256":"ada16ede78aa689743e0ee39acedc7369e6f9b6c5ea227f007ab382d9b01ce79"}
