While there is no particle storage in the tunneling region itself, it has associated certain amount of energy. We name the corresponding flux energy reactance since, like an electrical reactance, it manifests itself in time-dependent transport only. Noticeably, this quantity is crucial to reproduce the universal charge relaxation resistance for a single-channel quantum capacitor at low temperatures.
