In the limit where the term quadratic in derivatives (the \"sigma model term\") vanishes some additional structure emerges. The resulting (\"extreme\" or \"restricted\" or \"BPS\") baby Skyrme model has exact soliton solutions saturating a BPS bound which exists for this restricted model.
