Mechanisms for this phenomenon have been intensely researched in recent times. Does such a size-effect also exist in the electromechanical behavior of ferroelectrics?--if yes, what are the operative mechanisms? Our experiments on BaTiO3 indeed suggest an electromechanical size-effect.
