This gives an upper bound on the \"middle Picard number\" of the hypersurface. The improvement over existing methods is that our method relies only on a single prime reduction and gives the possibility of cutting down on the dimension of Tate classes by two or more. The obstruction map comes from $p$-adic variational Hodge conjecture and we rely on the recent advancement by Bloch-Esnault-Kerz to interpret our bounds.","authors_text":"Edgar Costa, Emre Can Sert\\\"oz","cross_cats":["math.NT"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.AG","submitted_at":"2020-03-24T18:00:12Z","title":"Effective obstruction to lifting Tate classes from positive characteristic"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2003.11037","kind":"arxiv","version":3},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:baa2ba7a1af367eebe5f92b1b96e3c86a8c05b5805bf6f3f1d549d99e19e0af1","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T04:59:56Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"77f2583a8d41442bcd0f4c4284d0888ccf955bdf7f9304ef673505cdff1a1f8a","cross_cats_sorted":["math.NT"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.AG","submitted_at":"2020-03-24T18:00:12Z","title_canon_sha256":"5493ee66bdc4b6c0429dc7e7d7bd4a70f661783c4ae6a72e651ae1525510872f"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2003.11037","kind":"arxiv","version":3}},"canonical_sha256":"3e52115583929239dff6c25e3ffe155b8476233948fcbecfd36f86ea1fbb1a93","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"3e52115583929239dff6c25e3ffe155b8476233948fcbecfd36f86ea1fbb1a93","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T04:59:56.263396Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T04:59:56.263396Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"a1/YdOXStFL+eH6t+5GET6QE594kAKam1Ni3W6dQn7+SUXhwWfij+1APBbvS3hg6rsdS9Ov4b8onw+rU32udDQ==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T04:59:56.263759Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2003.11037","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":3}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:baa2ba7a1af367eebe5f92b1b96e3c86a8c05b5805bf6f3f1d549d99e19e0af1","sha256:55026df698cd93aa3609c4c1e8cc69ec4eaff55525341f3a215a6654070f3987"],"state_sha256":"643668f09b00b77b3bb933f8af103782cc6f3639430ef6e9ff862961850542ad"}
