We assume that a sudden density fluctuation at the center of the NS initiates a shock discontinuity near the center of the star. This shock discontinuity deconfines NM to 2-f QM, initiating combustion of the star. This combustion front propagates from the center to the surface converting NM to 2-f QM. This combustion stops at a radius of $6 km$ inside the star, as at this density the NM is much stable than QM.
