We have discovered hundreds of Ultra Luminous X-ray sources (ULXs) - non-nuclear sources with X-ray luminosity in excess of the Eddington luminosity for \"normal\" size stellar Black Holes (BH) - and we are making progresses towards understanding their emission mechanisms.
