Here, we point out a more sophisticated algebraic structure when solitons of different dimensions coexist in the spectrum. We uncover this phenomenon in a concrete quantum field theory, the $4$d $\\mathbb{C}P^1$ model. This model has two kinds of solitonic excitations, vortices and hopfions, which would follow two $U(1)$ solitonic symmetries according to homotopy groups. Nevertheless, we demonstrate the nonexistence of the hopfion $U(1)$ symmetry by evaluating the hopfion charge of vortex o","authors_text":"Shi Chen, Yuya Tanizaki","cross_cats":["cond-mat.str-el","math-ph","math.MP"],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2022-10-25T05:55:51Z","title":"Solitonic symmetry beyond homotopy: Invertibility from bordism and noninvertibility from topological quantum field theory"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2210.13780","kind":"arxiv","version":4},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:ce42ee8c3ff814f49588ee0e6d692ca6f90fc6f036f0ac1dc4f8aeb8db932b1c","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T06:28:56Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"322eaa8ed4e002a40dc88b888f0be90d04de30d541465a1623bc34ef6c1d65ec","cross_cats_sorted":["cond-mat.str-el","math-ph","math.MP"],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2022-10-25T05:55:51Z","title_canon_sha256":"69c9b92096b2699d71d3bf56daa809a2034ea40a7b6a4836c46e2792dad9ce6d"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2210.13780","kind":"arxiv","version":4}},"canonical_sha256":"575e80cf763319dbdfdd3773b17a46033a5b16f43202e54bee92c14c1912dc73","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"575e80cf763319dbdfdd3773b17a46033a5b16f43202e54bee92c14c1912dc73","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T06:28:56.531093Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T06:28:56.531093Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"V6kzbL+BIsQGB8Z/1Q7erWm/D/vtndgNE7bem7F+i0yypuLHOQArMfv2X/q9+7ssCDkgYlPfNoUfZ3FncSyaDw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T06:28:56.531507Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2210.13780","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":4}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:ce42ee8c3ff814f49588ee0e6d692ca6f90fc6f036f0ac1dc4f8aeb8db932b1c","sha256:833c4869ea5393e4924d6a7122fc74bb06b9ca6691b32c6e813cd193adaa3f01"],"state_sha256":"c393aac4e38140685040ec77a32f937b6291c051b0f1b2503018a604f052370c"}
