In particular S- and P-wave states of charmed and charmed-strange mesons are explored for pion masses down to 156MeV. For the heavy quark, the Fermilab method is employed. In addition to ground states, some excited states are extracted using the variational method. To check our setup, calculations of the charmonium spectrum are also carried out.
