This surface-mode contribution requires no thermal phonons, unlike Raman relaxation, and is fixed by Rayleigh vorticity rather than material-specific $g$-factor modulation. The Rayleigh-vorticity bath is super-Ohmic and evanescent with depth, producing field and depth scalings of spin relaxation.
