We first describe how eigenvalue perturbation theory can be put in use to estimate the globally rightmost point in the $\\epsilon$-pseudospectrum if $\\epsilon$ is small. Our treatment addresses both general nonlinear eigenvalue problems, and the standard eigenvalue problem as a special case.
