With additional rotational and gravitational terms these equations are also fundamental in helio- and asteroseismology as a model for stellar oscillations. For a simple damping model we prove well-posedness of these equations, i.e. uniqueness, existence, and stability of solutions under mild conditions on the parameters (essentially subsonic flows). The main tool of our analysis is a generalized Helmholtz decomposition.","authors_text":"Martin Halla, Thorsten Hohage","cross_cats":["math-ph","math.MP"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.AP","submitted_at":"2020-06-13T15:17:40Z","title":"On the well-posedness of the damped time-harmonic Galbrun equation and the equations of stellar oscillations"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2006.07658","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:681307f5a24324858f479c3a8111b3aaa92a523a34ac3a26daa5570a189064ac","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T01:10:02Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"674d98589eb787cf0db115f25a031720a1df83fdd3ea48bb8de7b491349b0e66","cross_cats_sorted":["math-ph","math.MP"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.AP","submitted_at":"2020-06-13T15:17:40Z","title_canon_sha256":"4955d559a9019817f38fa9bd081da6bb27dfad60c84b126c0823a0d7928225e9"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2006.07658","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"690149c29a55449ee67f3483037c29284dda1818644f5426e7990b50721338f7","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"690149c29a55449ee67f3483037c29284dda1818644f5426e7990b50721338f7","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T01:10:02.035410Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T01:10:02.035410Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"6/1aEgX2lZ7PkTBTE8eTmavOF3XACTJwL3g8FIAUuQVslZlenQNG8jc3z3yX8fLLtAgWjiucQUyEmqzIREIjAA==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T01:10:02.035791Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2006.07658","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:681307f5a24324858f479c3a8111b3aaa92a523a34ac3a26daa5570a189064ac","sha256:7d59d1dcccee6cc36ab3ef55eb73852bdf9b1eb6f8888c35ef263758123c52a0"],"state_sha256":"3f79cc6228a910704f7a95552e35b1ed710e97401b6a29946239761c5d7a21a9"}
