We present VLBI and MERLIN observations of masers around the red supergiant S Per which show varying degrees of axisymmetry and a dynamically significant magnetic field. There is no evidence for rotation here or in most similar objects. We examine possible origins of the magnetic field.","authors_text":"(2) University of Bristol UK, (3) Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe, (4) UMIST UK, (5) University College London, (6) Cornell University USA, (7) Torun Centre for Astronomy in Poland, (8) ASTRON The Netherlands), A.M.S.
