The spin can couple with its orbital counterpart via the Berry phase, known as the spin-orbit interaction (SOI) of light. The SOI of light discovered previously belongs to the longitudinal one, which relies on the Berry phase in momentum space, such as the optical Magnus effect and the spin Hall effect. Here, we show that transverse SOI, relying on the Berry phase in real space, is inherent in the Helmholtz equation when transverse spinning light propagates in curved paths. The transverse SOI lifts the degeneracy of dispersi","authors_text":"Hongxing Xu, Jiaxin Lin, Junji Jia, Shunping Zhang, Tong Fu, Yonglong Wang, Yuhao Xu","cross_cats":[],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"physics.optics","submitted_at":"2023-06-15T09:16:46Z","title":"Transverse spin-orbit interaction of light"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2306.08975","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:9d91da7b9a7831b673b33f2dba9f61645464168ea6f4f5393901803bd0def5ee","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T06:21:06Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"7c84835bbf0a67d57f404a650effdb5975eee8fc884868e7203c3f8afe760bad","cross_cats_sorted":[],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"physics.optics","submitted_at":"2023-06-15T09:16:46Z","title_canon_sha256":"d6cdaedd205b25716dda6a8ca25aa293cf4dbf09a8d296f241648714c7525ba2"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2306.08975","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"70fd60bd6681b957295d4153b7ff6e7740cb829b61c85b702337193c2956c47b","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"70fd60bd6681b957295d4153b7ff6e7740cb829b61c85b702337193c2956c47b","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T06:21:06.933132Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T06:21:06.933132Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"0ndp0jAIh/Cznaa4ABvimVaIT6PxXrenCMIUjXML5pqqq4+dWglY21aSe3Yx2Unsei+ifRcap82eyJQhJOHuAg==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T06:21:06.933615Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2306.08975","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:9d91da7b9a7831b673b33f2dba9f61645464168ea6f4f5393901803bd0def5ee","sha256:61a37e3c58f46c953db114e8a49331d21954e63d1f7b3eaf45c025f6b345565e"],"state_sha256":"39aee4bc849f3e06106df6f748c8a963430af3676d34e3e9de6d091acff5c430"}
