We show that if $G$ is $d$-regular and connected but not complete then some link graph of $G$ has minimum degree at most $\\lfloor 2d/3\\rfloor-1$, and if $G$ is sufficiently large in terms of $d$ then some link graph has minimum degree at most $\\lfloor d/2\\rfloor-1$; both bounds are best possible. We also give the corresponding best-possible result for the corresponding problem where subgraphs induced by balls, rather than spheres, are considered.\n ","authors_text":"Itai Benjamini, John Haslegrave","cross_cats":[],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2021-06-29T14:49:59Z","title":"Degrees in link graphs of regular graphs"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2106.15464","kind":"arxiv","version":2},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:23987cb3b60313096b7f7ffc22576ba2d3218af0381ca8805088b93d37be7c51","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T04:30:37Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"1f69337b34af35374152a9521fc6b9fdc102d62cc601924e5fa77795e20904fa","cross_cats_sorted":[],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2021-06-29T14:49:59Z","title_canon_sha256":"673f3fe144e190fa185353b9f7be9fdf90e86f7798df746f11af4bd928891bb7"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2106.15464","kind":"arxiv","version":2}},"canonical_sha256":"73ce384d18a3ce8bad578c0db54a316ef8b40196395b30c47a2f337e6c14311d","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"73ce384d18a3ce8bad578c0db54a316ef8b40196395b30c47a2f337e6c14311d","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T04:30:37.680960Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T04:30:37.680960Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"i+YVjrySrcUqzmnWD74Txe3z/fdYzRTqHgXkprhjPEqeK4sExGJE0vnJz2uYB/dKozm1jdLcfWzjaZsN/bxCAw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T04:30:37.681305Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2106.15464","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":2}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:23987cb3b60313096b7f7ffc22576ba2d3218af0381ca8805088b93d37be7c51","sha256:cacada9959cc5864059362b3d1eae8bf8c5734999e02dc1115f92800b6819349"],"state_sha256":"09e906b7e968c1be8cd87ac449ea5452e77e2d2943bd6ede14abb6472dd38190"}
