We prove that the ratio of the total weighted cusp count to the group index is bounded by a negative power of the norm of the congruence level. This generalizes a theorem of Cox--Parry over $\\mathbb Q$, and supports the heuristic that cusp terms occurring in topological, arithmetic and representation-theoretical formulas are subleading.\n  The proof proceeds by localizing at a prime and reducing the problem to finite quotients, where it becomes a counting probl","authors_text":"Shengyuan Zhao","cross_cats":["math.AG","math.GR"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.NT","submitted_at":"2026-05-18T07:28:15Z","title":"Decay of weighted cusp counts for congruence subgroups of $SL_2$ over number fields"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2605.17972","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:37d08318a76ce9b3eec1a889169689f2a9f03fcf42c2ef876bf6ac85c3ae5ed5","target":"record","created_at":"2026-05-20T00:05:08Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"87785bc4ea52e098c04f957bd0a0a505ddc180ced07240cd5f032dab677a39ce","cross_cats_sorted":["math.AG","math.GR"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.NT","submitted_at":"2026-05-18T07:28:15Z","title_canon_sha256":"dd09233648eab1ccaba66de74055b12929e9fe59c7d700baa9de276dbca11a37"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2605.17972","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"798d378a44f0e69a5dc1195820fafe74b3d1f04ec75cd87c1a89579061ade484","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"798d378a44f0e69a5dc1195820fafe74b3d1f04ec75cd87c1a89579061ade484","first_computed_at":"2026-05-20T00:05:08.830922Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-05-20T00:05:08.830922Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"cKrvvw5OKd421ngm5nTe+jrvkFJPcKwxkTjtXnIkxUglNgc5b79puEVqjGE4L6imldlMRWtWAFWfZLZ8cEaWCQ==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-05-20T00:05:08.831770Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2605.17972","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:37d08318a76ce9b3eec1a889169689f2a9f03fcf42c2ef876bf6ac85c3ae5ed5","sha256:4a73e31c5b01e75382c9dbff83f6fe536979e7b9636236fdb9ac801f08590524"],"state_sha256":"b4f0bfdeb8000c1008c192b76daa9ca1bc00de7468c503a584ecd555b13df4e3"}
