In a previous work, consistency of D3-instantons with S-duality was established at first order in the instanton expansion, using the modular properties of the M5-brane elliptic genus. We extend this analysis to the two-instanton level, where wall-crossing phenomena start playing a role. We focus on the contact potential, an analogue of the Kahler potential which must transform as a modular form under S-duality. We show that it can be expressed in terms of a sui","authors_text":"Boris Pioline, Jan Manschot, Sergei Alexandrov, Sibasish Banerjee","cross_cats":["math-ph","math.AG","math.MP","math.NT"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2016-05-19T13:32:19Z","title":"Multiple D3-instantons and mock modular forms I"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"1605.05945","kind":"arxiv","version":2},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:31d1f3511085ac115489e9a5675fdac0c3b854744c804b92cc6f265a3d739e8b","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T11:35:08Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"2a01f5e82968e5a64eec7825318defd71f12c774a082d8e9c9f756144c1f11d3","cross_cats_sorted":["math-ph","math.AG","math.MP","math.NT"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2016-05-19T13:32:19Z","title_canon_sha256":"42275e9c9f85e3f7a1fbcfc7cf993c59ca9bd5acd299c0c315989757ac6f5e4c"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"1605.05945","kind":"arxiv","version":2}},"canonical_sha256":"7a395939106a66d39b812634bf1b32803f4cf7df052c9366f4039bf705c5713e","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"7a395939106a66d39b812634bf1b32803f4cf7df052c9366f4039bf705c5713e","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T11:35:08.435057Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T11:35:08.435057Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"sN+kDXUY79SOXnJoSN7+oO6TUwpP/3QyAbsB2yVXR6ecwy7POSA946Z2pc2+NXVGfiBhSBC2AoomLewyfoZ0Cw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T11:35:08.435852Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"1605.05945","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":2}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:31d1f3511085ac115489e9a5675fdac0c3b854744c804b92cc6f265a3d739e8b","sha256:bce9bd88c7064ee027eb51425c201d4f44317a6f402c070a0810627258c85e6d"],"state_sha256":"55f46bf49d68634a3cfd71da022edf753e286d6c01418853cc0e29a4c870b7e6"}
