Fe- and Cu-phthalocyanines assembled on graphene/Co have identical structural configurations, but FePc couples antiferromagnetically with Co up to room temperature, while CuPc couples ferromagnetically with weaker coupling and thermal stability, as deduced by element-selective X-ray magnetic circular dichroic signals.
