As matroids provide a combinatorial axiomatization of hyperplane arrangements, matricubes provide a combinatorial axiomatization of arrangements of initial flags in a vector space. We give cryptomorphic axiomatic systems in terms of rank function, flats, circuits, and independent sets, and formulate a duality concept.
