It is found that by tuning geometrical parameters of a direct opal PC one can achieve substantial reduction of the emissivity in the infrared along with its increase in the visible. We take into account disorder of the PC elements in their sizes and positions, and get quantitative agreement between the numerical and experimental results. We analyze the influence of known temperature-resistant refr","authors_text":"(2) GE Global Research Center, Alexei Deinega (1), Badri Ramamurthi (2), Boris Potapkin (1), Ilya Polischuk (1), Ilya Valuev (1), Maria Bogdanova (1), Moscow, Niskayuna, NY, Russia, Sergei Belousov (1), Sergey Eiderman (1), Tao Deng (2), USA), Vikas Midha (2) ((1) Kintech Lab Ltd., Yurii Lozovik (1)","cross_cats":["cond-mat.mes-hall","physics.optics"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"cond-mat.mtrl-sci","submitted_at":"2012-12-14T12:15:32Z","title":"Using metallic photonic crystals as visible light sources"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"1212.3451","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:db657f7aa68bcb54185a48fb9fd36773180716af5113fcc30783f10b121aaf8c","target":"record","created_at":"2026-05-18T03:38:24Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"f1df15e0f5baf4e45d1160115fcae4717cb0973297a5d50fb35a67a446ca45bf","cross_cats_sorted":["cond-mat.mes-hall","physics.optics"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"cond-mat.mtrl-sci","submitted_at":"2012-12-14T12:15:32Z","title_canon_sha256":"767f76ef51a4191053c219e7ff9dfdcf28049244c87c6762bd11201113770c97"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"1212.3451","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"9fd8646490bb0bea23a93ae716f9921280ec39a1388d8ecb61db44fbde9b95b5","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"9fd8646490bb0bea23a93ae716f9921280ec39a1388d8ecb61db44fbde9b95b5","first_computed_at":"2026-05-18T03:38:24.629709Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-05-18T03:38:24.629709Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"qKdQkSIF/7Hl+L8E3K0W8jq6lITEDJO+5WrScPI84iiPm5/k9JOWuuppETg6B8vmefiIkwfScUQQUKDMfLFfBg==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-05-18T03:38:24.630478Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"1212.3451","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:db657f7aa68bcb54185a48fb9fd36773180716af5113fcc30783f10b121aaf8c","sha256:c908766ee42621152ce2ee8614c47e79a5a7473447b4ee5deb0cd2396e5e9920"],"state_sha256":"08ff275f118ddd3c7119282bc47304b8ad79a24d9f2a41145d985917d87d1ff0"}
