Namely, we introduce a class of perturbations of the $SL(2,\\mathbb{C})$ Chern--Simons functional and prove a localisation result: the perturbed critical points either approach a compact subset of the $SL(2, \\mathbb{C})$ character variety or else `escape to infinity'.
