The material used is PDMS reinforced with nickel coated carbon fibres. Thanks to the nickel functionalisation, the fibre orientation can be achieved by embedding the viscous solution into a low external magnetic field ($<0.2$~T). It is shown that both mechanical and magnetic properties can be controlled by tailoring the material anisotropy through properly orientating the reinforcing fibres in the pre-curing phase.
