In this paper, we resort to the concept of degenerate critical coupling and design an ultra-thin semiconductor absorber composed of free-standing GaAs nanocylinder metasurfaces in the near infrared. The numerical results show that perfect absorption can be achieved through overlapping two Mie modes with opposite symmetry, with each mode contributing a theoretical maximum of 50% in their respective critical coupling state. The absorption also shows the pola","authors_text":"Chaobiao Zhou, Junyi Duan, Shuyuan Xiao, Tingting Liu, Wenya Chen, Xing Wang","cross_cats":[],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"physics.optics","submitted_at":"2021-03-30T12:33:55Z","title":"Perfect absorption in GaAs metasurfaces by degenerate critical coupling"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2103.16287","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:ae60cf2661373a26f1610cff9ed946a0c797c03b031d367f9e30c1b62c94cb66","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T03:33:41Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"b6827ba8757bd147ef5830e4f4fa4e5e78275c9a2a2e7abd692a534772306250","cross_cats_sorted":[],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"physics.optics","submitted_at":"2021-03-30T12:33:55Z","title_canon_sha256":"560826869ed98d9c9ad08d2b732b4c7e2df11ba8669207dab1e31d10a3a992c5"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2103.16287","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"b26a7a752ed3836c3d6ffd752d1a6d661b932d7abc90dcb4d628a62566330fcf","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"b26a7a752ed3836c3d6ffd752d1a6d661b932d7abc90dcb4d628a62566330fcf","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T03:33:41.578676Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T03:33:41.578676Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"Ou+vHspovMa3p6agLcxONOjQbSIYUHssa4ZWq84cWG5jXvXTuoLPRJn8Dur8pNeukGlGaHhQsC0jOaHutfJ1Aw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T03:33:41.579219Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2103.16287","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:ae60cf2661373a26f1610cff9ed946a0c797c03b031d367f9e30c1b62c94cb66","sha256:df893ff9cdd9a4178276ab082559e527cc8f7a85577eed0e4c954461dce064fb"],"state_sha256":"dc830463a47efb529df206500462554d708dc59bd1a6ce2d61dbc1d006a9fd58"}
