A new formula linking $A^\\dag_{MN}$ to $A$, $A^\\dag$, $M$ and $N$ is derived, in which $A^\\dag$ denotes the M-P inverse of $A$. Based on this formula, some new results on the weighted M-P inverse are obtained.
