We investigate this question in a minimal higher-dimensional framework in which Standard Model fields are confined to our brane while gravity propagates through the bulk. From the brane-to-brane graviton propagator we derive the retarded transfer kernel of the inter-brane link and identify the transition from evanescent to propagating Kaluza-Klein modes.
