During recordings of synaptically-driven Ca$^{2+}$ events in primary rat neurone cultures loaded with the fluorescent Ca$^{2+}$ indicator Fluo-4 AM, we have observed greatly reduced photo-bleaching in comparison with single-photon excitation.
