Elliptically polarized light can induce a dominant vector polarizability in alkali Rydberg states, enabling red-detuned Gaussian-beam traps that cancel the repulsive ponderomotive force.
As a result, the combined effect of the vector polarizability and the as- sociated prefactorf V (A,θk,J,M J) provides very small tunability of the total dynamic polarizability [35]
