An extended η-regularisation formalism unifies dimensional, denominator, and Schwinger-proper-time regularisation as solutions of gauge consistency conditions, and reproduces the chiral anomaly when implemented with the trace kept inside the integral.

abstract
We propose moving all the $\gamma_{5}$ matrices to the rightmost position before continuing the dimension, and show that this simple prescription will enable the dimension regularization scheme proposed by 't Hooft and Veltman to be consistent with gauge invariance.

Gauge invariance and generalised $\eta$ regularisation
An extended η-regularisation formalism unifies dimensional, denominator, and Schwinger-proper-time regularisation as solutions of gauge consistency conditions, and reproduces the chiral anomaly when implemented with the trace kept inside the integral.
