In connection with the recent proposal for possible singularity formation at the boundary for solutions of 3d axi-symmetric incompressible Euler's equations (Luo and Hou, 2013), we study models for the dynamics at the boundary and show that they exhibit a finite-time blow-up from smooth data.

  1. A unified Boussinesq--Euler formulation and finite-time blow-up for a Hou--Luo type boundary-jet system

    math.AP 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

The authors unify the Boussinesq and axisymmetric Euler systems into a parameterized boundary-jet model and prove finite-time blow-up for its closed truncation using a Riccati argument.
