Motivated by the recent experimental progresses in the study of p-wave resonant Fermi gas, we investigate the normal state properties of such a gas close to a p-wave scattering resonance. We calculate the universal equation of state and the two p-wave contacts which characterise the universal properties of the system, in good agreement with experiments. Our calculation takes explicit account of the effective range correction and obtains the superfluid transition temperature $T_c$ within Nozi\`eres-Schmitt-Rink (NSR) scheme, and shows that it lies within experimental reach. We derive analytic expression for $T_c$ in the weak coupling limit and show explicitly the non-perturbative nature of the effective range corrections.
