The spectra of strange hadrons are measured in proton-proton collisions, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7 TeV. The K^0_s, Lambda, and Xi^- particles and their antiparticles are reconstructed from their decay topologies and the production rates are measured as functions of rapidity and transverse momentum. The results are compared to other experiments and to predictions of the PYTHIA Monte Carlo program. The transverse momentum distributions are found to differ substantially from the PYTHIA results and the production rates exceed the predictions by up to a factor of three.

  1. Herwig 7 with the Lund String Model: Tuning and Comparative Hadronization Studies

    hep-ph 2025-09 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A Lund string model tune inside Herwig 7, the LH Tune, gives competitive descriptions of many LEP and LHC observables and enables fixed-shower comparison of string vs cluster hadronization.

  2. Average Transverse Momenta of Hadrons at LHC Energy 7 TeV vs. Masses and Heavy Neutral Hadron States

    hep-ph 2019-08 reject novelty 4.0 of 10

From fits of QGSM to hadron pT spectra, the paper infers a geometric mass sequence 0.25e^(n-1) GeV for hypothetical neutral hidden states and proposes them as dark matter.

  3. Systematic analysis of the pp collisions at LHC energies with Tsallis function

    hep-ph 2024-11 conditional novelty 3.0 of 10

A standard Tsallis fit to published LHC pp spectra yields mass- and energy-dependent effective temperature and non-extensivity parameters, confirming trends reported in earlier papers.

  4. The Monte Carlo Ecosystem in High-Energy Physics: A Primer

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 1.0 of 10

A primer that surveys the architecture, methodologies, computational challenges, and future trajectory of the Monte Carlo event generator ecosystem in collider physics.
