We analyse the relationship between the components of the intrinsic torsion of an SU(3) structure on a 6-manifold and a G_2 structure on a 7-manifold. Various examples illustrate the type of SU(3) structure that can arise as a reduction of a metric with holonomy G_2.

  1. A Landscape of AdS Flux Vacua

    hep-th 2019-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A bilinear flux-axion polynomial technique yields new branches of type IIA Calabi-Yau flux vacua, including a tachyon-free non-supersymmetric AdS branch.

  2. Special Holonomy Manifolds, Domain Walls, Intersecting Branes and T-folds

    hep-th 2019-08 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The Gibbons-Lu-Pope-Stelle special holonomy domain wall metrics are T-dual to intersecting brane systems, yielding new multi-function special holonomy metrics and T-fold backgrounds.

  3. Towards Wedge Construction of Four-Dimensional Non-Supersymmetric Theories and Torsion Classes

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Proposes G2 torsion classes as a characterization tool for torsion and supersymmetry breaking in M-theory on deformed K3 fibrations, leading to non-supersymmetric 4D theories via reductions to Type 0A and heterotic strings.

  4. Holographic Consequences of Heterotic String Theory beyond its Supergravity Approximation

    hep-th 2025-04 reject novelty 5.0 of 10

The paper proposes that the internal flux to curvature ratio in heterotic compactifications controls the sign of stringy corrections to the holographic BF bound, operator dimensions, and superconductor critical temperature.
