abstract

For the critical level-set of the Gaussian free field on the metric graph of $\mathbb Z^d$, we consider the one-arm probability $\theta_d(N)$, i.e., the probability that the boundary of a box of side length $2N$ is connected to the center. We prove that $\theta_d(N)$ is $O(N^{-\frac{d}{2}+1})$ for $3\le d\le 5$, and is $N^{-2+o(1)}$ for $d=6$. Our upper bounds match the lower bounds in a previous work by Ding and Wirth up to a constant factor for $3\le d\le 5$, and match the exponent therein for $d=6$. Combined with our previous result that $\theta_d(N) \asymp N^{-2}$ for $d>6$, this seems to present the first percolation model whose one-arm probabilities are essentially completely understood in all dimensions. In particular, these results fully confirm Werner's conjectures (2021) on the one-arm exponents: \begin{equation*} \text{(1) for}\ 3\le d<d_c=6,\ \theta_d(N)=N^{-\frac{d}{2}+o(1)};\ \text{(2) for}\ d>d_c,\ \theta_d(N)=N^{-2+o(1)}. \end{equation*} Prior to our work, Drewitz, Pr\'evost and Rodriguez obtained upper bounds for $d\in \{3, 4\}$, which are very sharp although lose some diverging factors. In the same work, they conjectured that $\theta_{d_c}(N) = N^{-2+o(1)}$, which is now established. In addition, in a recent concurrent work, Drewitz, Pr\'evost and Rodriguez independently obtained the up-to-constant upper bound for $d=3$.

  1. A switching identity for cable-graph loop soups and Gaussian free fields

    math.PR 2025-02 accept novelty 8.0 of 10

Conditioning two cable-graph points to lie in the same Brownian loop-soup cluster adds an odd-numbered Poisson cloud of Brownian excursions between them, yielding an exact law for the conditional cluster and its GFF analogue.

  2. Cluster volumes for the Gaussian free field on metric graphs

    math.PR 2024-12 accept novelty 8.0 of 10

Critical clusters of the Gaussian free field on Z^3, Z^4 and Z^5 have tail exponent delta=(d+2)/(d-2) and largest-cluster dimension (d+2)/2, confirming Werner's conjectures.

  3. Incipient infinite clusters and volume growth for Gaussian free fields and loop soups on metric graphs

    math.PR 2024-12 accept novelty 8.0 of 10

For the critical GFF level set and loop soup on Z^d with d != 6, four IIC definitions coincide, and the conditioned cluster volume in B(M) is of order M^{min(d/2+1, 4)}.

  4. Quasi-multiplicativity and regularity for metric graph Gaussian free fields

    math.PR 2024-12 accept novelty 8.0 of 10

For all d≥3 except d=6, the probability that the critical metric-graph GFF level set connects two sets across an annulus equals, up to constants, N^{(6-d)∧0} times the product of the two one-sided connection probabilities.

  5. Fluctuations for the critical free Bose gas

    math.PR 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

In the critical regime of the 3D free Bose gas, exponents and loop formation depend on geometry and boundaries, yielding non-Gaussian fluctuations via the regularized Fredholm determinant of the Green operator.
