abstract

Measurements of the branching ratios of top quark decays into leptons and jets using events with $t \overline{t}$ (top antitop) pairs are reported. Events were recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 ${\mathrm{fb}}^{-1}$. The measured top quark branching ratios agree with the Standard Model predictions within the measurement uncertainties of a few percent.

  1. Measurement of the $|V_{cb}|$ element of the CKM matrix in $t\bar{t}$ decays with the ATLAS detector

    hep-ex 2026-03 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

ATLAS measures |Vcb|=(50 +11/−14)×10^−3 from on-shell W→cb decays in ttbar events, the first such measurement at the weak scale.

  2. Measurement of the $b$-jet identification efficiency in dileptonic $t\bar{t}$ events using proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13.6$ TeV collected with the ATLAS detector

    hep-ex 2026-07 accept novelty 5.0 of 10

The GN2 b-jet tagger is calibrated in 56 fb⁻¹ of 13.6 TeV pp data using dileptonic tt̄ events, yielding data-to-simulation scale factors of 0.9–1.3 with ~1% uncertainty in the best bins.
