Since the identification of these stars by Morgan et al. in 1943, various definitions have been proposed for the stars of the Lambda Bootis group. We present here the various definitions which have been given to these objects in order to induce a general discussion on this topic.

Detailed abundance analysis of ten Delta Scuti stars shows only three are chemically peculiar: AU Scl and FG Eri as Am stars, and HZ Vel as a lambda Bootis star.
