We show that the precise measurements of neutron star properties, including the mass radius relation and tidal deformability from gravitational wave observations, X-ray and radio observations of pulsars, can shed light on properties of DM. [...] The vector portal DM scenario, with DM interaction with quarks via Z′ vector boson, can establish a direct connection to terrestrial searches, including direct and indirect detection and collider searches for the Z′ boson.
The assumption that fermionic dark matter interacts with nucleons solely via the vector Z' portal inside the neutron star, that the relativistic mean field framework remains valid for the mixed system, and that no other interactions or phase transitions alter the equation of state in unmodeled ways.
Vector portal fermionic dark matter admixed in neutron stars produces mediator-mass-dependent changes to the equation of state, yielding distinct mass-radius relations and tidal deformabilities that observations can use to constrain the model.
