HAWC sets upper limits on heavy dark matter annihilation from dwarf galaxies at 10^{-23} cm³ s^{-1}.
The bundle contains the canonical record plus signed events. A mirror can host it anywhere and recompute the same
current state with the deterministic merge algorithm.
Claims
C1strongest claim
We report that we do not detect evidence of DM from dSphs, so we place upper limits for the velocity-weighted DM annihilation cross-section (⟨σv⟩) on the order of 10^{-23} cm³s^{-1} for a DM mass range of 1-10^4 TeV.
C2weakest assumption
The analysis assumes that the selected dwarf spheroidal galaxies have the expected high dark matter density profiles with negligible astrophysical gamma-ray backgrounds and that the annihilation channels into Standard Model particles are modeled correctly.
C3one line summary
No dark matter annihilation signal is detected from dwarf galaxies; upper limits on the velocity-weighted cross-section are set at order 10^{-23} cm^3 s^{-1} for DM masses 1-10^4 TeV.
