Joint fitting of the atmospheric spectrum and the speckle contamination enables native-resolution retrievals of the high-contrast companion HD 19467 B with JWST/NIRSpec without continuum subtraction. Over 2.87--5.2 μm, medium-resolution spectroscopy constrains elemental and isotopic composition; both objects exhibit near-solar metallicity and subsolar C/O ratios.
The assumption that a linear combination of integral-field-unit speckle spectra fully captures the wavelength-dependent residual stellar contamination without residual biases that propagate into the retrieved molecular abundances or isotopic ratios.
Joint speckle-atmosphere retrievals on JWST spectra of HD 19467 B and a field T dwarf detect H2O, CH4, CO, CO2 and NH3, yield carbon isotopic ratios of 154 and 85 respectively, and show near-solar metallicity with subsolar C/O.
