NuFit-6.0: Updated global analysis of three-flavor neutrino oscillations

Ivan Esteban, Ivan Martinez-Soler, Jo\~ao Paulo Pinheiro, M.C. Gonzalez-Garcia, Michele Maltoni, Thomas Schwetz

The updated global analysis of neutrino oscillations shows nearly equal fits for both normal and inverted mass orderings, with Super-Kamiokande data providing the only notable preference for normal ordering.

Claims

C1strongest claim

The global fit including long-baseline, reactor and IceCube atmospheric data results into an almost equally good fit for both orderings. Only when the χ² table for atmospheric neutrino data from Super-Kamiokande is added to our χ², the global fit prefers normal ordering with Δχ² = 6.1.

C2weakest assumption

The analysis assumes that all included experimental datasets are free of unaccounted systematic uncertainties and that the three-flavor oscillation framework remains valid without additional physics.

C3one line summary

Updated global analysis finds well-determined neutrino mixing parameters with nearly equal preference for normal and inverted mass orderings in the full dataset.
