Claims

C1strongest claim

We propose a refinement of the Swampland Cobordism Conjecture for the first bordism group Ω1(BG) with a G duality bundle. We argue that even if gravitational solitons can realize the monodromies associated with elements of the commutator subgroup of G, if the number of needed commutators is unbounded (in other words, the commutator width of G diverges) then an infinite number of duality defects realizing elements in G need to be included.

C2weakest assumption

The topology of bordisms realizing large monodromies via gravitational solitons becomes arbitrarily complicated, leading to arbitrary suppression of the bordism; this suppression is then interpreted as requiring infinitely many duality defects precisely when the commutator width of G diverges. (Abstract, paragraph on gravitational solitons and the proposal for Ω1(BG).)

C3one line summary

Proposes a refinement of the Swampland Cobordism Conjecture for Ω1(BG) with duality bundle G, where diverging commutator width of G requires infinitely many duality defects to realize monodromies via gravitational solitons.
