We calculate for the first time the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD radiative corrections to the DVπP processes γ_L^* p → π^+ n and γ_L^* p → π^0 p ... The impact of the two-loop QCD corrections appears to be positive and substantial, including which considerably improves the agreement between the perturbative QCD prediction and the available JLab data.

The leading-twist collinear factorization framework remains valid and higher-twist power corrections are negligible throughout the kinematic region Q^2 ≫ |t|, Λ_QCD^2 where the NNLO corrections are applied.
