Our analysis shows clearly that, generally, only the sum sqrt(v_mac^2/2+vsini^2/4) can be constrained through the standard spectroscopic methods used to infer these parameters individually. Only in the case where one of the two clearly dominates, can good constraints on the dominating parameter be derived.

The 3D model atmospheres accurately capture the real photospheric velocity fields and line formation physics in O-stars, with no additional unmodeled broadening mechanisms present in the mock observations.
