The overall gas within both Fs and IFs flows directly into the hub and the gas flows faster along the Fs than the IFs. In addition, at least 30% of the gas mass in the IFs may flow towards the Fs replenishing the latter with new matter.

C2weakest assumption

The division of velocity coherent structures into filaments (Fs) and inter-filamentary regions (IFs) based on 13CO and C18O data, combined with the assumption that measured velocity gradients directly correspond to mass accretion rates without significant contamination from turbulence or other motions (invoked when deriving Ṁ∥ and Ṁ⊥ ratios).

C3one line summary

Gas flows from inter-filamentary regions replenish filaments and feed the hub in Mon R2, with parallel accretion rates 6.8 times perpendicular in filaments and 1.5 in inter-filamentary regions.
