Halo Nuclei from Ab Initio Nuclear Theory

Guillaume Hupin, Kostas Kravvaris, Michael Gennari, Petr Navratil, Sofia Quaglioni

Claims

C1strongest claim

We have developed an ab initio approach, the no-core shell model with continuum (NCSMC), capable of describing both bound and unbound states in light nuclei in a unified way. With chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions as the only input, we can predict structure and dynamics of halo and other light nuclei.

C2weakest assumption

That the chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions, without system-specific adjustments, are sufficiently accurate to describe the low-lying continuum and halo properties of the nuclei considered.

C3one line summary

NCSMC enables ab initio predictions of structure, resonances, and reactions in halo nuclei such as 6He, 8B, 11Be, and 15C from chiral interactions alone.
