Radiative decay of bound electron pairs in BHZ-model 2D topological insulators is slow, about 1 ns for HgTe/CdHgTe, and longest in the topological phase with nearly flat bands.
Given the fact that in this case the BEPs has the largest binding energy, one can expect that this type of the BEPs is the most stable one
