abstract
Using a recently developed effective field theory for the interactions of nucleons at non-relativistic energies, we calculate the Coulomb corrections to proton-proton scattering. Including the dimension-eight derivative interaction in PDS regularization scheme, we obtain a modified Jackson-Blatt relation for the scattering lengths which is found to be phenomenologically satisfactory. The effective range is not modified by Coulomb effects to this order in the calculation.

The compositeness of near-threshold eigenstates with Coulomb plus short-range forces is determined solely by the Coulomb scattering length, effective range, and Bohr radius, with the Coulomb interaction qualitatively altering threshold behavior and internal structure compared to short-range cases.
Non-perturbative Coulomb corrections in LO pionless EFT give a 0.85(3) MeV He-3/H-3 binding split, 0.043(2) fm charge-radius shift, 0.036(2) fm magnetic-radius shift, and -0.0041(1) μ_N moment shift.
