The distributed rolling-contact FrBD friction framework is extended to arbitrary-order linear viscoelasticity by deriving Generalised Maxwell and Kelvin-Voigt bristle formulations, and the linear PDE variants are shown to be well-posed and passive under a pressure condition.

Two-dimensional FrBD friction models for rolling contact: extension to linear viscoelasticity
The distributed rolling-contact FrBD friction framework is extended to arbitrary-order linear viscoelasticity by deriving Generalised Maxwell and Kelvin-Voigt bristle formulations, and the linear PDE variants are shown to be well-posed and passive under a pressure condition.
