Using simulations performed with the population synthesis code MOBSE, we compute the merger rate densities and detection rates of compact binary mergers formed in isolation for second- and third-generation gravitational-wave detectors. We estimate how rates are affected by uncertainties on key stellar-physics parameters, namely common envelope evolution and natal kicks. We estimate how future upgrades will increase the size of the available catalog of merger events, and we discuss features of the merger rate density that will become accessible with third-generation detectors.

Progress toward the detection of the gravitational-wave background from stellar-mass binary black holes: a mock data challenge
A mock data challenge shows that a phase-coherent search for the binary black hole background can recover injected signal fractions in realistic noise, using new treatments of noise uncertainty, finite-duration effect...

The impact of the formation channel on gravitational-wave-galaxy cross-correlations
GW-galaxy cross-correlation forecasts depend strongly on the assumed binary time-delay distribution but barely on the mass-transfer prescription, with detections predicted only for long delays against shallow surveys.
