Motivated in part by string theory, we consider a modification of the LambdaCDM cosmological model in which the dark matter has a long-range scalar force screened by light particles. Scalar forces can have interesting effects on structure formation: the main example presented here is the expulsion of dark matter halos from low density regions, or voids, in the galaxy distribution.

  1. Mesogenesis through the Ephemeral Dark Decay of Beauty

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0

An ultralight scalar enables temporary dark decays of B mesons in the early universe via muon-induced mass shifts of a dark fermion, allowing mesogenesis while remaining compatible with modern flavor constraints.

  2. Mesogenesis through the Ephemeral Dark Decay of Beauty

    hep-ph 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0

An ultralight scalar temporarily lowers a dark fermion mass via muon thermal density, opening efficient B meson dark decays for baryon asymmetry generation that later shuts off to match flavor data.
