The $\mathcal{R}$-height of semigroups and their bi-ideals

Group Theory · Submitted 7 Apr 2022

abstract compiled · 2026-09-23 · no language-model review

The authors' main claim Given a semigroup $S$ with finite $\mathcal{R}$-height, we establish bounds on the $\mathcal{R}$-height of bi-ideals, one-sided ideals and two-sided ideals; in particular, these substructures inherit the property of having finite $\mathcal{R}$-height.

The compiled record

The paper's own sentences, arranged. Each label is drawn from a closed vocabulary; the number beside it is the probability the classifier gave that label. Numbers in the tables are the authors', checked by code. No sentence in this record was written by a model.

The $\mathcal{R}$-height of a semigroup $S$ is the height of the poset of $\mathcal{R}$-classes of $S,$ i.e. the supremum of the lengths of chains of $\mathcal{R}$-classes. Given a semigroup $S$ with finite $\mathcal{R}$-height, we establish bounds on the $\mathcal{R}$-height of bi-ideals, one-sided ideals and two-sided ideals; in particular, these substructures inherit the property of having finite $\mathcal{R}$-height. We then investigate whether these bounds can be attained.
